Breakup Songs

1. Don’t Cry – Guns N’ Roses

This song may show my age a little, but it’s a damn good one. It’s ideal in the beginning of the breakup. You can cry, hold your pillow and feel sorry for yourself. The video is also a good one. The girls get downright brutal. If there is someone you would like to slap due to a nasty break up save yourself the trouble and live vicariously through these girls. It will get you in less trouble and I am pretty sure outside the video it doesn’t look quite as hot.

2. You Oughta Know – Alanis Morissette

She is so angry and I love it! No one says screw you quite like Alanis Morrisette. I typically play this song repeatedly when I have licked my wounds enough to get out of bed and start cleaning. Its sometimes followed by a relapse of crying but feeling angry is a nice escape. And you know what? He outta know!

3. Someone like you – Adele

I wish I could hit her notes, but sounding like a chihuahua that has just been stepped on is not going to stop me from giving it my best shot. This is a tear jerker no doubt, but sometimes a good cry is just what you need.Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead. Amen.

4. I will survive – Gloria Gaynor

This is a good driving down the road with the windows down. Even better to sing at karaoke. This song is so good I don’t even have to be going through a breakup for it to make me feel liberated.

5. Everybody Hurts – R.E.M.

6. Nothing comparesSinead O’Conner

Nothing like this song a hot bath and a nice cry

7. I don’t want you back –Eamonor fuck what I said…..I take it all back! It didn’t mean a thing! This is a good brush your shoulder off song. I love the rebuttal to this song too. There are two sides to every story. It’s fun to play this one out. Not sure who won this battle. I guess in these situations there are no winners?Side note I really appreciate the overuse of the word fuck during a bad breakup.
8. Big Girls Don’t CryFergie Why does a breakup make you want a sunny day and a nice drive with the windows down? This is another one of those songs that I play as loud as my stereo will go and sing every word to the top of my lungs.Fergie understands a broken heart. No doubt from this song.
9. Cry me a River – Justin Timberlake
I love to sing this when i am thinking someone wants me to feel sorry for them. Like seriously… cry me a river.
10. Somebody that I used to know Gotye

11. I hate myself for loving you – Joan Jett I almost forgot this one!

12. Gives you Hell – All American Rejects
This might be my favorite. I love the sound and the lyrics.
